Mass Air Flow Sensors

The Mass Airflow Sensor is a flow sensor used for the regulation of air mass aspirated by the engine. Hot film sensors are thermal sensors that analyse the air mass exactly by means of a heating resistor or a sensor membrane. The mass air flow sensor has become one of the most important components in terms of the engine management. Mass air flow sensors are nowadays used in nearly every petrol and diesel engine.

BBT mass air flow sensors were developed in the company’s own facilities and offers numerous improvements compared to conventional Aftermarket products. All sensors are 100 % tested in BBT’s testing centre.

The temperature measurement (NTC) includes the influence of the temperature towards the density of the aspirated air, thus yielding the air mass.

The following quality characteristics feature the BBT mass air flow sensor:

  • Neat and fast rising and falling curve of the signal
  • Compliance with OEM signal, thus 100 % OBD II compliant
  • Stable engine performance when idling or under high load conditions
  • Full performance and torque in all speed ranges
  • Reduced exhaust emissions
  • No over and under swing of the signals
  • Optimized fuel consumption, also under full load conditions
  • Good driving dynamics due to fast response
Comparison of up-signal between BBT and OEM air flow sensor

Up-signal:
The comparison shows that the BBT up signal is faster and more responsive as the OEM signal, this feature of the BBT sensor causes better acceleration.

Comparison of down-signal between BBT and OEM air flow sensor

Down-signal:
The comparison shows that the BBT down signal is more responsive as the OEM signal, this feature of the BBT sensor causes an optimized fuel consumption.
